Below are the keynote speakers for this year's conference.
Clay Pearson has been the city manager of Pearland, TX since March, 2104. He has over 25 years experience in municipal government serving the communities of Novi, Michigan and Elgin, Illinois in a variety of capacities including manager, assistant manager, budget officer, code administrator and neighborhood affairs director. He is active in International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and serves on their International Committee.
Originally from Lindsborg, Kansas, Clay received his MPA from KU, and his undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He serves on the board of the Alliance for Innovation and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Houston. He has been a huge supporter of the KU public administration program mentoring and supporting future generations of public servants. He and his wife Jenny live in Pearland.
Kirsten Wyatt is the co-founder and executive director of ELGL, the Engaging Local Government Leaders Network. She oversees all operations for the international local government network, including ELGL.org and social media accounts, the GovLove podcast, and ELGL events, education, and networking events. ELGL also manages the Diversity Dashboard data collection on the gender, race, age, and veteran status of local government chief administrators.
Kirsten previously served as the Assistant City Manager in West Linn, Oregon. She also worked for the Virginia Department of Education and the Town of Chapel Hill. She is a graduate of Willamette University (BS, Politics) and the University of North Carolina (MPA).
